Obituary for Gregory "Greg" K. Miller

May 11, 1952 - January 29, 2020
Warsaw, Indiana | Age 67

Gregory K. "Greg" Miller, age 67, of Warsaw, Indiana and formerly of Anderson, Indiana passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and family by his side at 11:25 a.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2020.

He was born on Mother's Day, May 11, 1952 in Greenfield, Indiana. Greg was the oldest of two children born to Glen E. Miller and Jeanette (Rash) Miller. On April 4, 1978 he married his love, Diana (Applegate) Miller who survives.

Greg graduated from Highland High School, Class of 1970. During his high school years, he was elected to the student council his sophomore year then elected president of the student body his junior year. Greg was photographer for the school newspaper, Tartan, and played baseball and football until an injury caused him to hang up his cleats.

Upon graduation, Greg attended Ball State University and later graduated from the Indiana Institute of Technology with a degree in business management.

In the early 1970's Greg was owner of the Wilkinson Market then later began a sales career with Nabisco Foods in 1979. In 1982, Greg started working as a National Account Manager for Merico Foods which was later owned by Anheuser Busch, Earthgrains, and Sara Lee Foods. Greg won many sales awards during his 30 years of service and was able to retire early in 2012. Greg had a long-standing friendship with his co-workers after he retired who said Greg always had a calm and gentle way of going about his work plus a good sense of humor. A couple of years later, he worked part-time for Biomet and Lewis Bakeries.

Greg, a true car enthusiast, owned over 100 cars during his lifetime including many classics. 'Made in America' was his belief and he loved talking cars. Greg loved the roar of the engine of his 1964 Pontiac GTO; the boxy look of his 1966 Chevy Nova II; cruising in his 1968 Corvette Stingray 427; and, the smooth glide of his 1964 Ford Falcon convertible which his parents purchased new in 1964. He won many awards at local car shows including several Best of Show trophies. From time to time, Greg's cars were on display at the annual Kunkle show in Wabash. Greg mastered the 'wax on, wax off' method with his classics.

Greg loved to sketch, sing along to the Beach Boys, attend Indianapolis Colts games, collecting antiques, and he kept his yard looking perfect. He was very quick witted. Most of all, Greg loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren as they participated in their many activities. He was affectionately known as "Pap" and taught his children and grandchildren that "if it's to be, it's up to me." And, of course, taught them all how to play ball.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Diana Miller (Warsaw, Indiana); son: Evan (Kristen) Miller (Greencastle, Indiana); and five grandchildren: Brooke Lane, Mason Lane, Alexis Himes, Jordan Krotke and Jacob Miller. Also surviving are his brother: Tim (Ann) Miller (Martinsville, Indiana); cousin: Linda (Carroll) Burbridge (London, England); and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Greg was preceded in death by his parents listed above, in-laws, Robert Applegate and Carol Applegate, beloved daughter, Karla (Miller) Lane in 2002, and his 4-legged Shih Tzu buddy, Sallie.

Greg's wishes were not to have a funeral or burial. Cremation and inurnment will be private. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Condo and St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, 130 South Main Street, Wilkinson, Indiana 46186. Casual dress is encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made by mail to Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, P.O. Box 1196, Warsaw, Indiana 46581-1196. Greg's family is grateful for the services of Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice especially nurse Virginia Carter. Or you may donate to Riley Hospital for Children at I.U. Health, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202 and would be appreciated by the family.

When you get to heaven, look up Greg. He will be the one cruising around enjoying a cold bottle of Coca-Cola wearing his favorite madras plaid shirt, "Rodney" pants, and his overly polished penny loafers, circa 1966.
