Obituary for Ms. Virginia M. Hickerson

Virginia Mae Hickerson, 89, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020 at Stonebrooke Nursing Home in New Castle.

She was born on April 12, 1930, in Crothersville, Indiana & married to the love of her life, Palmer Wilson Hickerson, Jr in 1950.

Virginia was a homemaker and took care of her family. She was a devout Christian, avid pianist, wonderful cook, and an amazing seamstress. She taught piano lessons from her home. She was a member of Bethel Baptist where she played both the organ and piano, as well as being a member of the choir.

Virginia always had a big smile on her face, loved to laugh, and was cherished by many. She taught so many so much. Her family was always her number one priority. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sons, Timmy (wife, Tami) Hickerson & Danny Hickerson; grandchildren, Amanda (husband, Rusty) Locker, Brandon Hickerson, Emily (husband, Aaron) Fletcher, Eli Hickerson, & Christina (husband, Tyler) Ballard; and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Palmer Hickerson; parents, George & Ora (Fleenor) Rider; brothers, Kenneth & Lloyd Rider; sister, Marjorie Rider; & great grandson, Justin "Peanut" Locker.

Services will be at 11 am Tuesday at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Wilkinson, with Pastor Randall Parker officiating. Burial will be at McCray Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
